Community Support

Fredericton enjoys and benefits from unprecedented community support and collaboration across all industry sectors. Volunteer business, government and university representatives have banded together, sitting on sector task forces representing everything from engineering to workforce development to the Knowledge Industry and more. Efforts are aimed at dealing with sector issues, setting strategic direction, and growing the sector both in numbers and quality.

Recent successes like the leveraging of community-wide efforts to secure the province’s longest runway, a new National Research Council Institute, the province’s only direct connection to the US eastern seaboard, and a new provincial rehabilitation centre have resulted in an even more motivated and integrated community-wide participation in growing a dynamic economy.

Community leaders stay interested and aware of the regions’ strategic direction, becoming active participants when needed. Ad hoc committees continue to jump into action in support of special projects and initiatives. Community leaders representing academia, research and development, the knowledge industry, engineering community, manufacturing sector, aerospace and defence, major institutions, healthcare, and more regularly take their turn as members of both the Enterprise Fredericton Board and City of Fredericton.

A future-focused and innovative Airport Authority Management and Board work tirelessly to improve both the infrastructure and air service at the province’s busiest business airport. Securing the province’s only direct connection to the US (Boston/Fredericton connection) was the result of a unique and highly successful community-wide initiative to build a $2,000,000 Travel Bank.

Fredericton continues to be proactive in looking to the future. As part of leadership renewal in the community, Leadership Fredericton was organized to identify and develop a new generation of community leaders, thus ensuring an available pool of informed and motivated volunteers and leaders. This innovative and unique educational program is designed to motivate and mentor adults of all ages who have made a commitment to community leadership. Leadership Fredericton focuses on developing leaders from all sectors of the community - business, government, not-for-profit, voluntary sector, health, education and others.


Enterprise Fredericton - Enterprise Fredericton is the regional economic development agency for the Greater Fredericton Region which includes Fredericton, Oromocto, New Maryland and Lincoln. Enterprise Fredericton is dedicated to improving economic performance in the Greater Fredericton region.

City of Fredericton- The city of Fredericton is responsible for marketing and promotions, research and special initiatives.

Greater Fredericton Airport Authority - The Greater Fredericton Airport Authority's mission is to provide a safe, efficient and customer focused airport to serve the social, business, government and military needs of Southern and Western New Brunswick. GFAA is guided by a commitment to operate as a business, partner with the community of the Greater Fredericton area (all the of the Saint John River Valley) and to be a custodian of public trust.

Leadership Fredericton - Leadership Fredericton is an innovative and unique educational program designed to motivate and mentor adults of all ages who have made a commitment to community leadership. Leadership Fredericton is focused on promoting and enhancing knowledge of self, others and community, in addition to developing leadership and networking knowledge and skills, among talented individuals in all sectors of the community - business, government, not-for-profit, voluntary sector, health, education and others. Leadership Fredericton is actively engaged in identifying and developing a new generation of community leaders.

Fredericton Chamber of Commerce - The Fredericton Chamber of Commerce is an award winning organization, having received the “Chamber of the Year” Award from the Atlantic Provinces Chamber of Commerce six times over the past ten years. With more than 850 business members, the Fredericton Chamber is one of the largest Chambers in Atlantic Canada.

Oromocto and Area Chamber of Commerce - The mission of the Oromocto Area Chamber of Commerce is to promote and improve commercial, industrial, and agricultural as well as retail activity in the Oromocto area to improve and enhance the economic prosperity of Oromocto and at the same time encourage civic interest and social well-being of the area.

Business Fredericton North - Business Fredericton North Inc. represents the interests of associate business members in Fredericton North outside the BIA boundaries. Associate business members are able to share in benefits which the existing BIA members enjoy such as advocacy, networking and education.

Downtown Fredericton - Downtown Fredericton Inc. is a non-profit Business Improvement Area (BIA) organization dedicated to sustaining and encouraging growth and development in the Central Business District of the City of Fredericton, New Brunswick. Located in the heart of “Atlantic Canada's Riverfront Capital”, the staff and Board of DFI work in unison with business, property owners and other key stakeholders to manage and develop programming designed to revitalize, promote and enhance the commercial viability of the downtown on behalf of its 650 plus members in cooperation with private and public sector partners.
